Jose Madero El Paso Concert reviews
Ridgefield/Portland concert leg of this fine tour
A must-see for an old rocker like me, this concert lineup featured an amazing set of classic rock giants. Dave Mason, as always, sounded like he does. It was great to see Patrick Simmons joining him on stage for much of his set, showcasing the mutual artistic respect between them. Mark Russo, Doobie’s Sax player, also performed with his band. The Doobie's, known for always delivering, presented a great set list of hits before the Michael McDonald era. Jose Madero's performance was also impressive, backed by a talented touring band assembled by Neil, the only original member remaining. Neil Schoon's rock lead guitar skills were nothing short of impressive live. The drummer, a former member of Jon Luc Ponty's band, and the keyboardist from Little Feet, brought great energy to the stage.
A concert lineup featuring some of the greatest rock talents of the '70s, I highly recommend catching this tour if you have the opportunity. The band showcased impressive skills, although the sound system at Ridgefield could have been improved as it occasionally distorted due to overdriving. The speaker system at Ridgefield lacked clarity and depth, with a muddled midrange and weak bottom end.
